养花旧土可以使用的情况如果是正常换盆剩下来的土可以继续使用,大部分 flower, every 1-2 years just need to change the soil once.
The soil in the pot is depleted of nutrients, and most importantly, the particle size is crushed, which affects ventilation and drainage significantly. It can cause new planted roots to suffer from poor respiration or unable to extend.
So we need to add new soil and organic matter to reuse old flower pots. If it's not used for flowers that have died or are sick, it's best not to use them because they may bring diseases from dead plants to new ones.
To kill insects and bacteria in old flower pots' soil:
Heat treatment: Spread the soil thinly on a cement floor or iron plate and expose it under sunlight for 4-10 days while occasionally turning over the soil. This method kills most insects and bacteria.
Chemical disinfection: Use chemical disinfectants like fungicides or insecticides specifically designed for garden care.
Fermented compost: Mix life waste such as leftover food scraps with fallen leaves into a pile of fermented compost.
The quality of this kind of compost is light, loose, with good water permeability and nutrient-rich properties suitable for all sorts of flowers.
Adding fermented compost into old flower pot soils can increase their fertility thus effectively reusing them.
It's NOT recommended using microwaves for sterilizing garden soils due to several reasons:
Dirty;
Using a microwave will kill not only insects but also beneficial microorganisms in the soil;
Nutrients will be lost during microwaving process.
Instead:
1、Natural air drying: Lay out plant materials on open ground or paper sheets outside under direct sunlight until dry;
2、High temperature sterilization (indoor): Pour boiling water onto the entire layer of decomposing plant material until fully saturated; repeat multiple times; let excess water drain off before allowing material air-dry;
For room cleaning disinfection:
Commonly used disinfectants include hydrogen peroxide-based sanitizers
Hydrogen peroxide has strong self-killing ability against germs & fungi; effective against bacteria spores & bacterial colonies
Suitable for natural environments (like kitchen counters), non-metallic surfaces (like porcelain sinks), food items like fruits & vegetables,
room interior air quality control & medical equipment surface cleaning
Can be applied directly onto human skin as well
For outdoor gardening:
1、Heat treatment by placing pots in full sun exposure after watering thoroughly then letting sit at least one week before repotting;
2、Chemical treatments using fungicides/pesticides specifically designed for gardens;
3.,Smoke ash/Sawdust treatments spreading thin layers on topsoil preventing pest eggs laying thereon during watering sessions killing remaining pests/bacteria;
Which drug is better? Methylbenzimidazole carbamate works well!
Method:
Spread small amounts evenly across pot topside mixing gently afterward ensuring equal distribution throughout container contents
Allow sufficient time pass between applications so proper efficacy achieved without harming plants themselves
